Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) has formed an organization and executive committee to promote the ‘11th Seoul International Children’s Film Festival’ scheduled from September 13 to 20.
Marking its 11th edition this year, the Seoul International Children’s Film Festival discovers high-quality children’s films and future film talents from around the world, serving as a complex visual culture festival that all generations can enjoy. This year, it will be held for the first time in Eunpyeong-gu.
To actively promote the festival, the district office’s Planning Situation Room appointed the organizing and executive committee members of the 11th Seoul International Children’s Film Festival on the 10th.
The Organizing Committee, chaired by Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, is responsible for support and consultation regarding the festival, while the Executive Committee, chaired by Kim Han-gi, Chairman of the Seoul International Children’s Film Festival, is in charge of planning and execution.
Both committees plan to ensure thorough event management to successfully carry out the 11th Seoul International Children’s Film Festival held in Eunpyeong. The festival will offer various attractions including opening and closing ceremonies, indoor and outdoor film screenings, and side events.
The 11th Seoul International Children’s Film Festival will take place from September 13 to 20 throughout Eunpyeong-gu, including the Eunpyeong Culture & Arts Center, screening venues, and Bukhansan Mountain. A total of 3,164 works were submitted from 108 countries worldwide, with 129 films scheduled for screening.
The festival will showcase a variety of children’s films, including works themed around children, films directed by children themselves, and films featuring children as active protagonists.
Submitted works will undergo preliminary screening and then final judging in competitive and non-competitive categories to select award winners.
The competitive categories are divided into four fields: ▲ Feature Film Competition ▲ Short Film Competition ▲ Animation Competition (newly established) ▲ Children’s Competition. The newly introduced Children’s Short Film Competition is a distinctive category unique to the Seoul International Children’s Film Festival aimed at discovering young directors.
