President Yoon Suk-yeol held a series of talks with the Estonian and Slovakian leaders in Vilnius, Lithuania, where he visited to attend the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit on the 12th (local time), and they agreed to strengthen cooperation in defense and other economic sectors.
On the morning of the same day in Vilnius, President Yoon held brief talks with Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas and Slovakian President Zuzana ?aputov?. In the meeting with Prime Minister Kallas, the two leaders placed great significance on the close cooperation between South Korea and Estonia, both IT powerhouses, particularly in digital and cyber security fields, as they jointly participate in Digital Nations and the NATO Cyber Defence Centre. They also noted the recent expansion of bilateral cooperation in the defense industry and agreed to work toward broadening collaboration across various sectors in the future.

In particular, President Yoon said, "I hope that the opening of the 'Estonia Business Hub' in Seoul this January will serve as an opportunity to revitalize business between the two countries," to which Prime Minister Kallas responded, "I expect that the positive perception of Estonia in South Korea will spread, promoting increased human exchange and economic cooperation between our countries."
During the subsequent meeting with President ?aputov?, President Yoon expressed hope for the future development of bilateral relations, which marked their 30th anniversary this year. He mentioned the deepening economic cooperation, with over 130 South Korean companies entering Slovakia, and requested support for these companies. President ?aputov? replied, "I hope South Korean companies will invest more actively, especially in the electric vehicle battery sector," and promised, "We will pay attention and provide support to ensure stable business activities for South Korean companies."

On the same day, President Yoon also exchanged views with the two leaders on the situation on the Korean Peninsula and in Ukraine. They reaffirmed the international community’s solidarity regarding the war in Ukraine and agreed to cooperate closely for the swift peace and restoration of daily life in Ukraine. Additionally, President Yoon requested support for the bid to host the 2030 World Expo in Busan, which aims to be a solution platform for humanity’s pressing challenges.
