Chinese Cuisine 'Chef Yeokyungrae and Disciples' Popup Event a Great Success
Over 500 Customers Gathered at Ewha Womans University Commercial District Popup Restaurant in Seodaemun-gu
'Chef Yeo Kyung-rae and Disciples' Popup Featuring Chinese Cuisine Achieves Great Success
Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Seong-heon) successfully hosted the 'Star Chef Popup Restaurant - Chef Yeo Kyung-rae and Disciples,' planned as part of efforts to revitalize the Ewha Womans University commercial district.
The event, themed around Chinese cuisine, was held on the 1st floor of Yes APM in the Ewha commercial district from 4 PM to 8 PM on the 7th of this month, attracting 185 teams and over 500 customers.
Sharing the purpose of revitalizing the Ewha commercial district, a total of eight chefs, including Chef Yeo Kyung-rae and members of the Korea Chinese Culinary Culture Exchange Association such as Koo Kwang-shin, Park Il-joo, Park Ji-yong, Woo Deok-sang, Dong Ga-hwa, Chae Young-sung, and Yoon Sung-yong, participated to present Chinese dishes that offered both taste and visual appeal.
Three popular star chef Chinese menu items?glutinous rice cream shrimp, glutinous rice chili shrimp, and black vinegar sweet and sour pork?were sold at 14,000 KRW each, receiving such enthusiastic response that reservations for the evening were fully booked.
The sales proceeds will be delivered to vulnerable single-person households within Seodaemun-gu through the Community Chest of Korea, adding meaningful value to the event.
In addition to the popup restaurant, cultural performances by students from Hansung Chinese School and a flea market hosted by merchants from Ewha Womans University 3rd, 5th, and 7th Street shopping districts attracted public interest.
Lee Seong-heon, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, said, “We thank Chef Yeo Kyung-rae and all involved parties, and we expect the Star Chef Popup Restaurant to increase customers in the Ewha commercial district and bring vitality to surrounding stores.”

'Chef Yeo Kyung-rae and Disciples' is the second popup restaurant following last month’s 'Italian Restaurant Hong Shin-ae Salt,' and the district plans to continue hosting such star chef events regularly.
