National Nuclear Power Alliance Discusses Current Issues with Daejeon and Jeolla Region Leaders
Continuation of the 1 Million Signature Campaign and Promotion of the Launch of the Administrative Council
Leaders of the Daejeon and Jeolla regions of the National Nuclear Power Plant Alliance gathered to discuss nuclear power plant safety and the improvement of unreasonable systems.
On the 12th, Hampyeong County, Jeollanam-do, announced that the National Nuclear Power Plant Alliance Daejeon and Jeolla regional leaders' meeting was held on the 11th at the large conference room of Buan County Office, Jeonbuk.
The meeting was attended by Kim Young-gil, chairman of the National Nuclear Power Plant Alliance (mayor of Jung-gu, Ulsan), along with heads and deputy heads of seven local governments including Hampyeong County, Buan County, Yuseong District in Daejeon, Gochang County, Muan County, and Jangseong County, where discussions on major issues took place.
The main agenda items included ▲a campaign to collect one million signatures urging the establishment of a Nuclear Safety Grant Tax ▲and the launch of the National Nuclear Power Plant Alliance Administrative Council.
The “Campaign to Collect One Million Signatures Urging the Establishment of a Nuclear Safety Grant Tax” is currently being conducted targeting approximately 5.03 million residents of member cities, with the collected signatures planned to be submitted to the National Assembly in August.
Additionally, to ensure smooth administrative operations and credibility related to nuclear power plants, including joint responses to nuclear safety policies and system improvements, the launch of an “Administrative Council” is being promoted.
County Governor Lee Sang-ik said, “Let us work together so that all residents of the National Nuclear Power Plant Alliance cities, counties, and districts can live safe and healthy lives,” and added, “We must secure the establishment of the Nuclear Safety Grant Tax within this year.”

Meanwhile, Hampyeong County is conducting the campaign to collect one million signatures for the establishment of the Nuclear Safety Grant Tax, and as of July, about 6,270 people have participated, showing a 78% participation rate compared to the target of 8,000 people.
