President Yoon Suk-yeol and First Lady Kim Keon-hee attended the official dinner of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit held at the Presidential Palace in Vilnius, Lithuania, on the 11th (local time), where they reaffirmed their commitment to cooperation with heads of member countries and promoted the bid for the 2030 World Expo. The presidential couple also engaged in conversations with leaders of countries with whom they could not hold bilateral talks, urging support for the 2030 Expo in Busan.
According to a written briefing by Lee Do-woon, spokesperson for the Presidential Office, President Yoon and the First Lady attended the dinner in the afternoon under the hospitality of Lithuanian President Gitanas Naus?da.
Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General, proposed a toast, citing cooperation with partner countries such as South Korea as one of the reasons for NATO's success. In addition to NATO member countries, partner countries including South Korea, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand also participated in this meeting.
The presidential couple sat at the same table as Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orb?n and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, with whom they held bilateral talks that day.
Leaders who could not hold bilateral talks, such as Czech President Petr Pavel, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovi?, also sat at the same table with President Yoon and the First Lady, engaging in friendly conversations.
They also met and conversed with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro S?nchez, and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the dinner venue.
President Yoon made full use of these encounters to request support for the Busan Expo bid, the spokesperson said.
