Busan Gijang-gun Provides Customized Lifelong Education for Learners with Disabilities
Busan Gijang-gun is promoting various projects to expand lifelong education accessibility for people with disabilities under the vision of "Gijang, a lifelong learning city for people with disabilities growing together in the Learning Forest."
In April, the county was selected in the contest for the operation project of lifelong learning cities for people with disabilities, hosted by the National Institute of Special Education under the Ministry of Education, and was designated as a "2023 Lifelong Learning City for People with Disabilities."
Currently, the county is actively operating projects by developing various lifelong education programs that reflect the needs of learners with disabilities.
By detailed projects, a total of 23 customized lifelong learning projects for people with disabilities are being promoted, including 3 programs to establish a sustainable operational foundation for the lifelong learning city for people with disabilities, 16 programs to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities, and 4 programs to build an open lifelong learning environment where people with and without disabilities learn together.
Additionally, to promote these projects, the county is consulting with related organizations such as local disability groups to develop and operate various customized programs that meet the needs and expectations of people with disabilities.
Through this, the county plans to actively support the social adaptation and independence capabilities of people with disabilities and foster a culture where all residents can learn without being marginalized.
