Yeonggwang-gun to Host Presidential Cup National Middle and High School Volleyball Tournament from 13th to 20th

Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do, will host the 56th Presidential Cup National Middle and High School Volleyball Tournament from the 13th to the 20th at four indoor gymnasiums in the area, including the Sportium National Sports Center.

According to the county on the 11th, the tournament, hosted and organized by the Korea Middle and High School Volleyball Federation, the Jeollanam-do Volleyball Association, and the Yeonggwang-gun Volleyball Association, will feature about 1,200 players and officials from 58 teams nationwide.

Despite the absence of some girls' middle and high schools due to national team training calls, this year's tournament is the largest ever. The competition format involves selecting teams advancing to the finals through a preliminary group league, followed by a knockout tournament to determine the ultimate champion.

In accordance with the government naming usage manual for tournaments, the event was elevated to an international competition level by the participation of Fengyuan Commercial High School from Taiwan, enhancing the tournament's prestige.

Fengyuan Commercial High School is a prestigious volleyball school in Taiwan and was the champion of the 2022 Taiwan Middle and High School Volleyball Tournament. It received an official invitation from the Korea Middle and High School Volleyball Federation.

On the final day of the tournament, the boys' and girls' high school finals will be held at 10 a.m. on the 20th and will be broadcast live nationwide on KBS N SPORTS.

County Governor Kang Jong-man said, “Since this tournament attracts nationwide attention, we must prepare thoroughly and use this opportunity to promote the county’s capabilities to all Koreans, thereby gaining a comparative advantage over other cities and counties.”
