"Prevent Collapse Accidents"... SH Corporation and Seoul City Joint Inspection of Godeok Gangil 2 Complex
To prevent a second underground parking lot collapse accident like the one in Geomdan New Town, Incheon, Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH Corporation) and the Seoul Regional Architecture Safety Center jointly inspected the construction site of Goduk Gangil Complex 2.
SH Corporation and the Seoul Regional Architecture Safety Center announced on the 11th that they conducted an on-site inspection at the Goduk Gangil Complex 2 Zero Energy Apartment construction site on the 7th.
The "Goduk Gangil Public Housing District Complex 2 Zero Energy Apartment Construction Project" is the first residential complex in Korea to receive ZEB3 certification for zero-energy buildings. It is a project to build Happy Housing and National Rental Public Housing in Gangil-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul.
The complex consists of six apartment buildings ranging from two basement floors to 18 above-ground floors, totaling 697 households: 210 units of 29㎡, 126 units of 35㎡, 165 units of 36㎡, 67 units of 39㎡, and 138 units of 49㎡.
On that day, SH Corporation conducted an on-site inspection of the reinforced concrete process, including checking the appropriateness of the upper rebar arrangement in the underground parking lot, such as shear reinforcement, which was the cause of the Incheon underground parking lot collapse accident, as well as the adequacy of concrete strength through non-destructive testing.
In particular, separate from the on-site inspection, they analyzed videos filmed of major processes such as reinforced concrete work to review the construction progress carried out so far.
Based on the video records, they analyzed whether △ the construction was being carried out according to the design drawings △ the work methods and sequences were being followed △ safety regulations were being observed during construction. This allows identifying causes of poor construction without dismantling facilities or digging the ground.
Prior to the emergency inspection, SH Corporation also conducted a special inspection of all construction sites and standard construction sites (including flat slab apartment construction sites) from May 8 to 12, immediately after the underground parking lot collapse accident in Geomdan New Town, Incheon.
Meanwhile, SH Corporation has been recording and managing videos of major construction processes at construction sites it manages using various smart devices such as body cams since October 2022, the first among construction public enterprises. They also conduct monthly regular safety inspections and cross-inspections between sites to implement thorough and meticulous safety and quality management.
