Inspecting Age-Friendly City Policy Projects and Proposing Improvements for Senior Citizens' Daily Life Inconveniences
Yongsan-gu (Mayor Park Hee-young) held the '2023 Age-Friendly City Policy Monitoring Team 3rd Term Appointment Ceremony' on the 6th at the Yongsan Art Hall Cultural Lecture Room.
The monitoring team was finalized with 25 members selected after a two-week open recruitment in May. It is composed of five divisions: ▲Health and Care ▲Physical Environment ▲Transportation Environment ▲Work and Leisure ▲Communication and Information, and will operate for a one-year term.
Until May next year, the team will inspect the age-friendly city policy projects promoted by the district and identify inconveniences in the daily lives of senior citizens to propose improvement plans.
Notably, the 3rd term monitoring team is characterized by its diverse age range. The broad age composition, ranging from people in their 40s to their 80s, aims to incorporate various perspectives on senior citizen policies.
After the appointment ceremony, practical training for the monitoring team was conducted, providing time for discussions on the monitoring activities' direction by division.
Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “We will listen carefully to the opinions of the monitoring team to make Yongsan a livable age-friendly city for everyone as they grow older,” adding, “We will do our best to create an environment where all residents, including senior citizens, can live well together.”
The district received certification as an 'Age-Friendly City' from the World Health Organization (WHO) in February 2021 and joined the international network to respond to the continuous increase in the elderly population and the diverse needs arising from rapid aging.
