View original imageThe Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters will operate 'Heatwave Shelters' at 199 119 Safety Centers across the province from the 12th of this month until September 30.
The Fire and Disaster Headquarters will provide simple beverages such as bottled water at the heatwave shelters, and paramedics will check health conditions including blood pressure, blood sugar, and body temperature. In particular, they will also teach cardiopulmonary resuscitation and heat-related illness prevention methods.
A representative from the Fire and Disaster Headquarters said, "We will conduct thorough disinfection measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19," and added, "Please cool down from the heat and check your health status at the nearest heatwave shelter."
Separately, the Fire and Disaster Headquarters is operating a heatwave emergency squad by equipping all 276 ambulance teams in the province with ice vests, ion drinks, and saline glucose.

Meanwhile, last year, there were a total of 353 heat-related illness cases in the province, with 2 fatalities. Heat exhaustion was the most common with 173 cases, followed by heat stroke (71 cases), heat cramps (64 cases), and heat syncope (33 cases).
