University students affiliated with universities participating in the Ministry of Education's Advanced Field Innovation Convergence University AI (Artificial Intelligence) sector and joint-utilization universities are gathering in one place to hold a camp aimed at spreading performance management.

The AI Innovation Convergence University Project Group at Yeungjin College announced that it is hosting the "2023 AI Innovation Convergence University Summer Vacation AI Education Camp and Competition" from the 10th to the 14th, a 4-night, 5-day event at Yeungjin College Global Campus.

Following its inaugural event last year, this second camp is hosted by the AI Innovation Convergence University Consortium and organized by the Yeungjin College project group.

The camp involves about 70 participants including students, professors, and researchers from four universities: Chonnam National University, Yeungjin College, Seoul National University of Science and Technology, and joint-utilization university Hanyang Women's University. The project group operates an AI basic practice course as a non-curricular program, facilitating credit exchange between universities.

Participating students form 14 teams and use the "Modi Kit," a modular assembly teaching aid for SW and AI education, to practice basic AI concepts through coding by combining Lego modules, enhancing their software comprehension and creativity.

Notably, this camp expands beyond last year's participation limited to the project group consortium universities, including students from joint-utilization universities in the AI Innovation Convergence University project, emphasizing the significance of broadening performance dissemination.

The camp concludes on the 14th with a competition where students from the project group universities and joint-utilization universities create works based on their team activities, sharing their learning outcomes grounded in creativity.

Kim Jong-gyu, head of the AI Innovation Shared University Project Group at Yeungjin College, who is overseeing the camp, said, "Despite the hot weather and vacation period, I hope the students participating in the camp share project information and use this opportunity to enhance their expertise in the AI field."

In June, Yeungjin College was selected as a participating university in the Ministry of Education's "Advanced Field Innovation Convergence University" project in the semiconductor materials, parts, and equipment (SoBuJang) field.

With this, Yeungjin has achieved the distinction of being selected in a total of three innovation convergence university fields, including the existing "Artificial Intelligence" and "Intelligent Robotics" projects, making it the most selected among nationwide junior colleges. It is also the only participating university in this project among junior colleges in Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions.
