Seongbuk-gu Conducts Community Sharing Activities to Celebrate Chobok
Delivering Various Foods Including Samgyetang to Support the Healthy Summer of Vulnerable Elderly
Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) gifted a healthy and abundant summer to vulnerable elderly residents through community sharing activities ahead of Chobok (the first of the three hottest days in summer).
From July 4 to July 7, sharing events were held in five neighborhoods of Seongbuk-gu.
On the 4th, in Seongbuk-dong, the Seongbuk-dong Saemaeul Women's Association hosted a 'Love Samgyetang Sharing' event. Members of the Saemaeul Women's Association gathered at the Seongbuk-dong Community Center and carefully prepared samgyetang, which was delivered to about 200 low-income households and elderly living alone. Kim Gwang-soon, president of the Seongbuk-dong Saemaeul Women's Association, said, "I hope everyone enjoys samgyetang and has a healthy summer."
On the 5th, in Donam 2-dong, the Donam 2-dong Saemaeul Women's Association held a 'Hope Samgyetang and Nabak Kimchi Sharing' event. To support vulnerable elderly residents exhausted by the heatwave, the Saemaeul Women's Association members personally prepared samgyetang and nabak kimchi to deliver together. This event was made possible through the dedication of the Saemaeul Women's Association members and sponsorship from Heungcheonsa Temple and Bukak Saemaeul Credit Union.
On the 6th, in Wolgok 1-dong, the Wolgok 1-dong Community Security Council held a samgyetang sharing event for vulnerable elderly living alone. The event took place at a samgyetang restaurant, providing an opportunity to check on the well-being of local elderly and communicate with them. The council members conducted the event with hopes that the elderly would regain their appetite lost due to the heat and spend a healthy summer.
On the same day, July 6, in Jongam-dong, the Jongam-dong Community Security Council, together with the Lifeline Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, held a 'Hope Connection Package Sharing Event.' They prepared packages consisting of seasonal kimchi and samgyetang to help 80 single-person households at risk of social isolation have a healthy summer. Community Security Council members personally visited each household to deliver the packages and check on their well-being. Additionally, a campaign to identify welfare blind spots was conducted.
On July 7, in Bomun-dong, the Bomun-dong Saemaeul Women's Association held a 'Chobok Celebration Filial Samgyetang Sharing Event' to support the healthy summer of elderly residents. The Saemaeul Women's Association members prepared packages including samgyetang, rice cakes, and fresh kimchi, which were delivered to 100 senior centers and low-income elderly living alone.
