Governor Kim said, "We have finalized 100 campaign pledges covering living environment, local economy, education, culture, tourism, health, welfare, and open administration, and are implementing them according to phased plans while reviewing progress quarterly. During the remaining term, I will do my best to create a distinctly improved Jindo County that residents can look forward to tomorrow."
Over the past year, Jindo County has increased agricultural and fishery income to 788.5 billion KRW through securing 30.4% of the budget for agriculture, fisheries, and continuous budget expansion to strengthen competitiveness in farming and fishing industries.
Through this, income was raised by strengthening on-site support for agriculture and fisheries, including △introduction of foreign seasonal workers △purchase of the largest-ever volume of public stockpiled rice △top organic farming certification rate in Jeollanam-do △final victory in the dispute over the seaweed farming area ‘Marohaeyuk’ △expansion of promotions by large distribution companies.
In particular, the county laid the foundation for regional growth by strategically securing 177.4 billion KRW in national and provincial funds, including the record selection of 56 public contest projects worth 46.1 billion KRW.
To strengthen a customized welfare safety net that makes all residents happy, the county established a resident-tailored health and care welfare system by △expanding customized support for low-income groups through discovering 817 welfare blind spots △strengthening visiting welfare services such as physical therapy centers and dedicated village doctors △enhancing respect for national veterans and the elderly.
Additionally, for nurturing future talent and creating childcare and educational environments, achievements include △opening a pediatric and adolescent department △raising childbirth incentives △starting construction of the Youth Dream Nurturing Center △expanding school education expenses support △selection for lifelong education public contest projects.
Jindo County expanded tourism, culture, and sports infrastructure that highlights local characteristics, including the successful hosting of the Jindo Mysterious Sea Road event, development of distinctive and differentiated tourist attractions and customized tourism products, strengthening cultural and artistic capabilities, and expanding public sports facility infrastructure.
Efforts to improve quality of life included creating beautiful landscapes filled with floral scents such as flower paths and flower hills, establishing a clean and pleasant living environment, operating a 1,000 KRW bus for residents and a 100 KRW bus for students, running delivery helpers for traditional markets, and proactive disaster and emergency response.
To expand resident-first administration based on law and principles, the county implemented △parking lots for visitors at the county office △the Jindo 242 asteroid project △successful establishment of the Hometown Love Donation System.
As a vision for transforming into a new Jindo County over the next three years, Governor Kim Hee-su selected key tasks including △construction of the new Jodo Bridge and Gasa Bridge through inclusion in national plans △securing regional growth engines through private investment attraction △establishing a foundation for high-income agriculture and fisheries △creating a happy Jindo for all ages from children to seniors △building a tourism and cultural arts hub △creating a beautiful and pleasant region blooming with flowers 365 days a year.
Governor Kim Hee-su emphasized, "The past year was a period of setting direction for change and laying the foundation. Without being fixated on short-term achievements, I will build sustainable development infrastructure in the mid to long term, ensure that major projects proceed smoothly, and create a Jindo County where future generations can nurture their dreams by communicating with residents and visiting the field to foster a changing Jindo."
