Ulsan City Awarded 'Best Excellence' for Two Consecutive Years in the 'Intelligent Factory Distribution Expansion Project'
Increasing Manufacturing Innovation Competitiveness, Creating an Intelligent On-site Ecosystem
Ulsan City has achieved the highest grade (S) in the performance evaluation of the '2022 Intelligent (Smart) Factory Dissemination and Expansion Project' conducted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
Following last year, this marks the second consecutive year of receiving the highest grade, enhancing its status as a leading city in smart manufacturing innovation.
The smart factory dissemination project is an initiative to establish advanced intelligent factories that integrate all production processes from product planning to sales using information and communication technology, producing customized products at minimal cost and time.
Last year, Ulsan City selected 35 local companies and provided a total of 4.15 billion KRW in support, including 3.45 billion KRW in national funds and 700 million KRW in city funds.
In particular, additional companies for basic and advanced tasks were selected and supported to meet the demand for smart factory establishment support. Furthermore, the project was recognized for identifying and resolving difficulties through inspections and demand surveys of existing established companies.
A survey of 102 companies in the Ulsan area that completed smart factory establishment over the past three years showed improvements in productivity, quality, and process enhancements, which led to confirmed business management improvements such as increased sales.
Additionally, tangible results of digital transformation in manufacturing sites have begun to appear, including new market development, investment attraction, export growth, and new hiring.
