Seocho-gu is reopening an outdoor swimming pool at Yangjaecheon after 7 years.
Seocho-gu (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) will open the urban water park “Yangjaecheon Swimming Pool (around 126-1 Yangjae-dong)” on the 16th to help cool down the summer heat during the summer vacation.
Yangjaecheon Swimming Pool was established in 2007 and used as a summer rest area, but it was closed in 2017 due to the construction of the U-an Road connecting Umyeon-dong and Gangnam-daero. This year, it has been transformed into a nature-friendly water park to meet the expectations of local residents.
The newly opened Yangjaecheon Swimming Pool features ▲facilities for children and families ▲water play in harmony with nature ▲safe and comfortable operation.
First, on a 6,400㎡ site, there are two swimming pools and various facilities that can accommodate about 1,100 children and families. The children’s pool, 0.5m high and 72m long, features a spider-shaped water play facility, while the 125m diameter lazy river pool offers children a unique experience of interacting with nature by riding slides and other equipment using the water current.
Near the children’s pool, parasols, sunshades, and shade tents are installed to provide a space where families can recharge together. On one side, convenience facilities such as a tunnel fountain, showers, changing rooms, restrooms, and a snack bar are also available.
Additionally, the district harmoniously arranged the lush greenery of Yangjae Citizens' Forest near the swimming pool and the natural scenery of Yangjaecheon, which won the 2016 Asia Urban Landscape Award. Eight sculptures shaped like flowers, leaves, umbrellas, and more are placed in the children’s pool area.
Moreover, children can enjoy the popular environmental education program “Yangjaecheon Cheoncheon Tour,” which has gained great popularity near the swimming pool, through reservation.
Finally, safety has been enhanced. Non-slip pavement materials are used, and 12 safety personnel and nurses with water safety certifications are deployed to prevent accidents. The facility temporarily closes daily from 1 PM to 2 PM for maintenance, and water quality is managed at least twice a day.
The swimming pool operates daily until the 27th of next month, from 10 AM to 6 PM. To maintain body temperature and ensure a safe and clean environment, it operates for 45 minutes every hour followed by a 15-minute break (maintenance).
Admission fees range from 2,000 to 5,000 KRW for Seocho-gu residents, and children under 24 months enter free.
The district also operates ground fountains in six parks where children exhausted by the heat can briefly forget the heat and enjoy summer. These are installed in local parks including ▲Yangjae Neighborhood Park (311 Yangjae-dong) ▲Myeongdal Neighborhood Park (1313-17 Seocho-dong) ▲Sinbanpo Neighborhood Park (16-8 Banpo-dong) ▲Dwitbeol Children’s Park (821-1 Bangbae-dong) ▲Songdong Neighborhood Park (777 Umyeon-dong) ▲Solmal Small Park (793 Umyeon-dong).
