A Platform for Communication to Realize ‘Sustainable Future, Jungnang ESG’
Discussion on ESG Core Values and Individual, Private, and Public Sector Practices for Future Generations
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) held the 2023 Jungnang Vision Roundtable Meeting with over 120 residents at the Jungnang Culture and Sports Center on the 6th.
Now in its sixth year, the Jungnang Vision Roundtable Meeting is a gathering where residents from various sectors share policy ideas. It serves as a communication platform to discuss the future development of the region with residents and to collect creative and innovative opinions.
At the meeting, under the theme “Drawing Jungnang’s Future with Residents,” the achievements of the first year of the 8th local government term and future visions were shared. Together with residents, they considered ESG core values and action plans to leap forward as a sustainably developing city.
Residents discussed the vision that Jungnang, as a sustainable development city where future generations will live 20 years from now, must uphold in four areas: environment, society, economy, and governance. Key value keywords proposed included “environment,” “jobs,” “co-governance,” “happiness,” and “safety.”
Additionally, there was a time to discuss and share results on the actions that individuals, private sectors, and public sectors must take to promote Jungnang-style ESG.
Major actions suggested for individuals and the private sector included ▲reducing the use of plastics and disposable products ▲continuous volunteer activities ▲ongoing environmental campaigns ▲establishing eco-friendly corporate policies, among various opinions. Especially for the public sector, key actions discussed included ▲education and promotion of resource saving and recycling ▲support for discovering welfare needs of vulnerable groups ▲efforts to eliminate inequality ▲expansion of public-private co-governance.
