President Yoon Chairs 'Youth Policy Review Meeting'
"We Will Build a Korea Where Fair Compensation Is Achieved"
Government Emphasizes Reform Will While Mentioning Minor Parties
President Yoon Suk-yeol chaired a youth policy review meeting on the 6th, stating, "I became president because of you," and acknowledged that securing the presidency after 10 months was thanks to the youth. President Yoon promised, "I will regard young people not as mere subjects of policy but as partners in designing the nation's future."
On the afternoon of the same day, President Yoon met with members of the Central and Local Youth Policy Coordination Committee, youth advisors from various ministries, and the 2030 advisory group at Floating Island in Seocho-gu, Seoul, saying, "We will create a Republic of Korea where fair opportunities are given to you and just rewards are made for effort and achievement."

The meeting was held under the subtitle "A Republic of Korea Standing Upright Together with Youth," to facilitate discussions between the government and future generations about the present and future of Korean youth. First, President Yoon said, "I am actually someone who became president because of you," adding, "Ultimately, the partners in my election campaign were the youth." He continued, "I entered politics without experience and secured the presidency within 10 months, all thanks to you," and explained, "I appealed to the public with agendas selected by the youth and messages they taught me, which garnered tremendous support and brought me here."
President Yoon emphasized, "Fundamentally, youth policy is about creating a just and hopeful country." However, referring to the current situation of a minority government in the National Assembly, he candidly stated, "Our government is a minority party in the National Assembly right now. Whenever we try to do something, there is an atmosphere of obstruction."
Nevertheless, he reiterated his determination for reform. President Yoon promised, "I believe fundamental reforms will be possible starting next year. Until this year, we will do our best with what we can, and next year, I will discuss more state affairs with you." Regarding the pension reform roadmap, he said, "We will definitely present a proper pension reform plan during our government's term and reach a national consensus." On labor reform, he added, "We must establish the rule of law in industrial sites," and explained, "The labor market should move flexibly according to supply and demand so that many opportunities can come to future generations." He also described education reform as "making university education more flexible by removing quotas or walls within universities."
