Ministry of Science and ICT to Promote 28GHz Allocation for New Operators... Holds Forum
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 6th that it will hold a public forum on the '5G 28GHz New Operator Frequency Allocation Plan (Draft)' at L Tower in Seocho-gu, Seoul on the 11th.
On January 31, the Ministry of Science and ICT decided to promote the allocation of the 28GHz band by preparing a 'Support Plan for New Entrants in the 5G 28GHz Band' to improve the monopolistic structure of the telecommunications market and promote competition. Under the policy direction of the 'Telecommunications Market Competition Promotion Plan' announced that day, the frequency allocation plan was prepared to ensure that frequency allocation does not act as an excessive entry barrier for new operators.
This public forum is held to broadly collect opinions from experts and stakeholders on the specific frequency allocation plan, including the allocation method, allocation fees, and conditions. The forum will begin with a presentation titled 'Mobile Telecommunications Market and Frequency Status' by Kim Ji-hwan, Head of the Future Strategy Center for Radio and Mobile Communications at the Korea Information Society Development Institute, followed by an announcement of the '5G 28GHz New Operator Frequency Allocation Plan' by Ha Jun-hong, Director of the Frequency Policy Division at the Ministry of Science and ICT.
