Soccer Star Neymar Fined 4.3 Billion Won for Digging Artificial Lake at His Mansion
"Neymar Fined Heavily for Violating Environmental Protection Law"
Illegal Use of Rocks and Sand in Artificial Lake
Neymar, the world-renowned footballer from Brazil (Paris Saint-Germain), has been fined 4.3 billion KRW for illegally expanding an artificial lake at his residence.
On the 5th (local time), foreign media such as CNN and Fox News cited an announcement from Brazilian environmental authorities, reporting that "Neymar was fined 16 million Brazilian Reais (approximately 4.3 billion KRW) for violating environmental protection laws."
According to reports, Neymar recently created an artificial lake inside his home located in Mangaratiba, on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
However, environmental groups in the area later pointed out that the rocks and sand used in Neymar's artificial lake were obtained through illegal means.
In response, Brazilian environmental authorities issued an administrative order last month to seal off the artificial lake construction site. Nevertheless, it became controversial when it was revealed that Neymar held a luxury party and enjoyed swimming in the artificial lake despite the administrative order.
Eventually, the environmental authorities dispatched officials for a more thorough investigation. The Mangaratiba regional council stated in a press release, "Neymar has been fined four times for violating environmental regulations during the construction of the artificial lake at his residence." They added, "In addition to the fines already imposed, he is also under suspicion for unauthorized use of river water without permission."
