GS Construction bowed their heads and said, "We sincerely apologize for the anxiety felt by the prospective residents, the damages and difficulties caused by the delay in the move-in schedule, and other related damages."
They continued, "We will make every effort to take the necessary measures to ensure the building's safety," and added, "We will take all necessary steps to prevent recurrence and restore the trust of our customers."
They also said, "We deeply apologize to all customers who love GS Construction, the relevant authorities, and the client," and stated, "We fully agree without objection with the customers' rightful expectation that, as a major contractor, we must take unconditional and unlimited responsibility throughout the entire design and construction process."
GS Construction also promised to strengthen design management going forward. GS Construction said, "Although this project was different from most projects in that we did not directly commission the design, we failed to perfectly filter out the unusual design lacking shear reinforcement through cross-checks and other measures," and added, "It was a shameful mistake that we could not prevent the collapse due to the complacent response of merely requesting a re-examination from the same design firm."
Furthermore, they said, "We deeply reflect on the failure to adhere to basic principles in handling soil during the landscaping construction process and other mistakes, and we will ensure that the same mistakes are not repeated."
GS Construction emphasized, "With the mindset of a manager who once burned all defective products of our company, we will completely reconstruct the entire Geomdan complex and compensate fully for all delays in move-in," and added, "All employees will refine their attitudes through this process and take the Zai brand, which is truly loved, to the next level."

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport pointed out the main causes of the underground parking lot collapse accident at the Geomdan apartment in Incheon, which occurred last April, as the omission of shear reinforcement, poor quality control, and insufficient consideration of additional loads. It was investigated that there were deficiencies throughout the design, supervision, and construction stages.
