Gyeonggi Fire Department Initiates Efforts to Streamline Emergency Medical Services

View original imageThe Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters has taken measures to address the difficulties faced by emergency patients who are unable to find emergency rooms.
On the 4th, the Fire and Disaster Headquarters held a 'Meeting to Strengthen Emergency Medical Guidance Operations' with emergency medical institutions in the Gyeonggi area, the headquarters announced on the 5th. Earlier, in May of last year, the headquarters established the 'Emergency Medical Guidance Operations Strengthening Task Force' to improve the efficiency of medical guidance operations through analysis of the operation and management of the pre-hospital medical guidance system, and has been holding regular meetings to discuss improvement plans.
At the meeting, active participation of emergency medical guidance doctors in hospital selection tasks and the establishment of a hotline (collaborative network) between emergency situation management and medical institutions were intensively discussed. The Fire and Disaster Headquarters staffs four emergency medical guidance doctors (three in the southern region and one in the northern region) on a day and night shift basis at the comprehensive situation room that receives 119 emergency calls.
They also exchanged opinions on establishing a standard protocol for essential patient symptoms and medical history (mechanism) to be conveyed to hospitals when inquiring about emergency patient acceptance.
