Mokpo Coast Guard Issues 'Advisory' for Coastal Safety Accident Risk Forecast System During Tidal Change Period
Mokpo Coast Guard Station (Chief Kim Hae-cheol) announced that it will issue a "Caution" warning under the Coastal Safety Accident Risk Forecast System for four days from the 4th to the 7th in the areas of Mokpo, Muan, Hampyeong, Yeonggwang, Sinan, and Jindo counties in accordance with the spring tide coastal flooding caution information.
The Coastal Safety Accident Risk Forecast System is a system that informs the public in advance of the risk of safety accidents occurring in coastal waters to prevent accidents. It is issued in three stages?Interest, Caution, and Warning?depending on the severity.
During the spring tide, when the difference between high and low tides is very large and the sea level rises, special caution is required for coastal safety accidents such as falling into the sea and isolation.
The Coast Guard plans to strengthen sea and land patrols focusing on low-lying dangerous areas along the coast such as coastal waters, ports, harbors, and rocky shores during this period, and to make every effort to prevent coastal safety accidents through publicity and safety guidance activities via local governments, sub-stations, electronic signboards, and announcement broadcasts.
