POSCO E&C's in-house learning club, ‘COP (Community of Practice),’ held a session to exchange tasks learned during the first half of this year in the metaverse virtual office ‘META Space,’ which was established last year as a communication platform for employees.
COP is a challenge-based learning community where employees voluntarily share knowledge and know-how learned about common interests, acquiring skills and expertise in their respective fields.
This year, COP activities involve a total of 77 teams and 539 employees learning in four main areas: ▲technology transfer of core experts such as hydrogen and carbon dioxide adsorption facilities ▲application of the latest IT technologies to work, such as improving work efficiency using Chat GPT ▲work advancement, including optimization of LNG tank outer wall panels ▲and nurturing talents in new business fields, such as optimizing energy usage rates in zero-energy buildings.
Last year, the collective intelligence of COP achieved outstanding results, including developing localization plans for key anode material facilities, establishing design standards for 400MW-class offshore wind power and substations, and creating a concrete estimation program using the big data analysis programming language Python.
POSCO E&C posted the learning contents of each team in a conference hall realistically implemented within META Space, allowing other employees to share interim results and leave comments. In particular, the avatar-to-avatar one-on-one chat function enables light communication, and meeting rooms, cafes, and outdoor parks are also implemented, allowing in-depth discussions on tasks through various methods such as video conferences, presentations, and chats.
A POSCO E&C official said, “We have prepared systems and spaces for employees who demonstrate self-directed learning, growth, and a spirit of challenge,” adding, “We hope COP activities become a good driving force for employees to challenge themselves and grow, laying the foundation to strengthen the company’s real value.”
