Former Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae revealed that her resignation from the ministerial post was requested by former President Moon Jae-in, sparking rumors of her running in the general election. In response, Go Min-jung, a member of the Democratic Party representing the Gwangjin-eul district, which was Choo’s former constituency, stated, "I am confident no matter who comes."
On the 3rd, Go said on CBS's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show,' "Our area has long produced ministers and representatives, and since I am newly here, the local residents have a very high level of interest and pride in politics," expressing her confidence.

There is speculation that her disclosure of the reason behind her resignation is related to the upcoming general election. Choo set a historic record as the first in constitutional history to be elected five times in a single constituency, all in Gwangjin-eul. This has led to strong expectations that she may return to run in Gwangjin-eul in next year’s general election.
Go said, "As the general election approaches, everyone seems to be focusing only on my constituency. For a while, there were questions in the media about whether Minister of Justice Han Dong-hoon would run in Gwangjin-eul," adding, "I think it’s a district that attracts a lot of attention."
Regarding the true intent behind Choo’s remarks, she said, "There are many things I could say, but I feel that if I add my words, it might just turn into an internal conflict," and added, "I don’t want to create a mudslinging fight."
She continued, "Who benefits from that? Right now, the public is worried about Fukushima’s contaminated water, the nomination of Lee Dong-kwan as the chairman of the Korea Communications Commission, the candidate for Minister of Unification, and the continuously rising prices. There are so many issues that need to be resolved," and said, "So adding my words to that wouldn’t be good for our Democratic Party or the people."
When asked by the host if Choo’s statements might be perceived as facts if not fact-checked, Go drew a line, saying, "I will not add any more comments."

Regarding Choo’s recent revealing remarks, Go said, "With about a year left until the general election, she must have her own concerns and thoughts," and added, "Since she was a minister, I believe her greatest worry is for the country, and she must also be considering whether the Democratic Party truly has the strength and capability to be an alternative force."
