According to the Incheon International Airport Police Unit on the 30th, Mr. A, who is suspected of violating the Aviation Security Act and the Narcotics Control Act (psychotropic substances), tested positive for methamphetamine in a drug screening test, Yonhap News reported on the same day.
Mr. A is accused of causing a disturbance by attempting to open the emergency door on a Jeju Air passenger plane departing from Cebu Airport in the Philippines around 5:30 a.m. on the 19th, heading to Incheon Airport.
Exhibited Abnormal Behavior About One Hour After Takeoff

About an hour after the plane took off, Mr. A showed abnormal behavior, such as looking around nervously and complaining of chest tightness. During this time, he tried several times to open the emergency door but was restrained by flight attendants and other passengers.
Mr. A was immediately arrested by the Incheon International Airport Police Unit upon arrival. During the investigation, he continued to exhibit abnormal behavior multiple times. He was unable to clearly explain the circumstances or motive of the incident and asked questions such as, "If I open the emergency door, will the flight attendants be fired?" and "How many life jackets are on the plane?"
Accordingly, the police conducted a drug screening test on Mr. A, which came back positive for methamphetamine. Under police questioning, Mr. A stated, "Two days before boarding the flight to Incheon, on the 17th, I took drugs with six locals at a hotel in Cebu, Philippines."
Before attending the pre-trial detention hearing on the 20th, when asked by reporters why he tried to open the emergency door, he gave an unrelated answer, saying, "I felt like I was being attacked by the powers in the Republic of Korea."
Meanwhile, the Incheon District Court issued a detention warrant for Mr. A, stating, "Although he is a juvenile under 19 years old, detention is unavoidable due to the risk of flight."
