Lee Gae-ho: "If Lee Nak-yeon leads, the ruling party gets 120 seats? Ha Tae-kyung just spoke his wish"
Ha Tae-kyung, a member of the People Power Party, dismissed the evaluation that if former Democratic Party leader Lee Nak-yeon leads the general election, the ruling party would struggle to secure even 120 seats, made by Lee Gae-ho, a Democratic Party lawmaker affiliated with the pro-Lee Nak-yeon faction, saying, "Ha's remarks are just expressing their own hopes."
On the 30th, Lee said on YTN's 'News King with Park Ji-hoon,' "Ha seems to think that if former leader Lee leads the party, internal strife will arise, which would be very advantageous for them," making this comment.
On the 27th, Ha said on MBC's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus,' "If a centrist and rational figure like former leader Lee takes charge of the party, our general election result will not be 170 seats but rather 130 or even 120 seats would be difficult to achieve."
However, Lee analyzed that this statement contains a wish to exacerbate conflicts within the Democratic Party. He said, "Looking at what the ruling party has been saying recently, they mix prospects and hopes together. Under the current leader, the party is at least moving forward stably, but if conflicts worsen in this situation, wouldn't that be exactly what the People Power Party desires?"
He added, "Since the ruling party desires (internal division), we must do the opposite. Naturally, the ruling party would want the Democratic Party to be divided and conflicted," adding, "The Yoon Seok-yeol administration's governance is extremely chaotic, causing severe suffering for the people. Therefore, we must win the general election next year. To do that, we cannot act according to what the ruling party wants."
He emphasized that the path should be the 'Lee Jae-myung system,' which is contrary to the ruling party's wishes in the general election. Lee said, "Realistically, it has to be that way," adding, "The person currently receiving the most public support within the party is naturally the current leader, Lee, and in any case, he is leading in the polls among the next presidential candidates."

When asked about former leader Lee's role in the general election, Lee said, "He will certainly play any role necessary to secure victory in the general election, and I have seen such discussions before. However, it is not easy to predict exactly what role he will play at this point," adding, "What is clear is that, given his long political experience, he will skillfully contribute to the Democratic Party's victory depending on the situation."
