Sangcheol Lee, Gokseong County Governor, Visits National Assembly to Propose Current Projects

Gwangju Jeonnam Region National Assembly Members and Budget Committee Members' Recommendations on Current Issues

Lee Sang-cheol, the former governor of Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, visited the National Assembly on the 26th and 27th to actively pursue solutions for local pending projects.

Governor Lee Sang-cheol met sequentially with Seo Dong-yong, the local district member of the National Assembly, Kang Hoon-sik, a member of the Special Budget and Accounts Committee, as well as Hong Ik-pyo, chairman of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee, and Lee Byung-hoon, a member of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee. He provided preliminary explanations on the necessity of next year’s local pending projects and requested active cooperation and support.

The major pending projects discussed include ▲ the Gokseong Water Leisure Sports Tourism Complex Development Project, ▲ the Gokseong Public Sewage Treatment Area Sewer Installation Project, ▲ the Seokgok Yeomgok District Sewer Maintenance Project, and ▲ the Gokseong Amnok~Oji National Road No. 17 Road Facility Improvement Project.

The county signed a business agreement with a private investor in April last year for the ▲ Gokseong Water Leisure Sports Tourism Complex Development Project.

The plan is to invest a total of 380 billion KRW entirely from private funds by 2025 to develop facilities such as a rowing practice center and a boat racing stadium, a water park and resort, a gymnasium, and a rafting park in the Hakjeong-ri and Singi-ri areas of Gokseong-eup.

The ▲ Gokseong Public Sewage Treatment Area Sewer Installation Project is a project to connect untreated sewage areas to the public sewage treatment plant for processing.

This is expected to improve residents’ living conditions and preserve the ecological environment of the discharge water area.

The ▲ Gokseong Amnok~Oji National Road No. 17 Road Facility Improvement Project is aimed at improving National Road No. 17, which runs along the Seomjin River.

The purpose is to prevent flood damage and enhance traffic convenience for road users by upgrading the facilities of National Road No. 17, which frequently suffers damage and accidents due to frequent flooding during summer heavy rains.

Lee Sang-cheol, governor of Gokseong-gun, said, “To overcome the crisis of population extinction and revive the local economy, active investment attraction activities and securing national budget are urgently needed. We will continue to maintain close cooperative relationships with central government departments, the National Assembly, and related organizations to strive for resolving local pending projects.”
