Guro-gu (Mayor Moon Heon-il) held the 73rd anniversary event of the Korean War and the Month of Patriots and Veterans on the 27th at the main auditorium of the Guro-gu Community Center.
Under the theme "Great Sacrifice, Forever in Our Hearts," the event was attended by over 300 people, including heads of veterans organizations, the president of the Veterans Association, and members of the Korean War Veterans Association, who graced the occasion.
At the entrance of the venue, about 100 actual photos of Korean War and Vietnam War veterans residing in the district were exhibited, and a photo zone was set up to commemorate the newly made uniforms presented by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs to Korean War veterans. The pre-event performance was presented by the Coway Mulbit Sound Choir, consisting of 10 people with severe visual impairments.
After the commendation ceremony for exemplary national merit recipients, attendees watched a Korean War commemorative video to reflect on the noble patriotism of the fallen heroes.
Mayor Moon Heon-il said, "I express my deep respect and gratitude to the Korean War veterans and national merit recipients who made today possible," adding, "We will do our best to improve veterans' welfare so that national merit recipients are respected in society."
The event concluded with an energetic performance by a B-boy dance crew and the singing of the Korean War song.
