This exercise gained additional significance as two of the six heroes who died in the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong, the late Major Yoon Young-ha and the late Sergeant Hwang Do-hyun, were honored by the participation of the guided missile fast attack crafts (PKG) named Yoon Young-ha and Hwang Do-hyun. On the previous day, the Yoon Young-ha and Hwang Do-hyun ships formed a formation with the 2000-ton class frigates (FFG) Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Chungbuk, and conducted a simultaneous firing exercise targeting simulated targets.
The 2nd Fleet Command plans to continue intensive realistic training until the 29th, assuming provocations by North Korea along the Northern Limit Line (NLL) in the West Sea, including naval gunfire, tactical maneuvers, and anti-submarine warfare exercises.
Lieutenant Bok Se-hyun, the combat information officer aboard the Yoon Young-ha ship, said, "I feel great pride and honor to be serving on the Yoon Young-ha, a hero of the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong," adding, "Inheriting the spirit of the invincible Navy, I will devote myself even more to training and steadfastly protect our seas."
