Strengthening Industrial Complex Response Measures for the Rainy Season
Korea Industrial Complex Corporation (Chairman Lee Sang-hoon, hereinafter referred to as KICO) has begun on-site inspections of industrial complexes to prepare for heavy rains during the monsoon season. On the 27th, KICO announced that it held a video conference on monsoon season response plans at the Ulsan Regional Headquarters, chaired by Chairman Lee Sang-hoon, with participation from heads of 13 regional headquarters.
At the meeting, Chairman Lee received reports on the current status of safety management for flood and wind damage during the monsoon season and flood response plans by regional headquarters, urging thorough safety preparedness and preventive activities. Chairman Lee stated, "Each regional headquarters must conduct more thorough preventive activities in vulnerable areas such as drainage channels, rivers, landslide-prone areas, and lowlands to prevent casualties and flooding damage at tenant companies and owned facilities in advance," adding, "We will also strengthen joint inspections and on-site maintenance activities for tenant companies and infrastructure through close cooperation with related organizations."

He plans to visit the Seoul Digital National Industrial Complex on the 30th to inspect the installation site of flood barriers to prevent flooding in the knowledge industry center.

KICO plans to carry out on-site inspections and preventive activities for each industrial complex and respond through the 'Integrated Industrial Complex Safety Management Support Council,' composed of 13 regional groups. Additionally, KICO is promoting the 'Flood and Wind Damage Recurrence Prevention Support Project' targeting industrial complexes that experienced flooding damage last year. In the Seoul Digital Industrial Complex and Pohang Industrial Complex, flood barrier installations and drainage facility maintenance are being implemented to prevent recurrence. In the Gunsan National Industrial Complex, future projects will include building a smart green industrial complex integrated control center to establish a database of habitual flood zones, paint location markings for drainage outlets, and install Internet of Things (IoT) flood sensors.
