Gwangju Office of Education Launches 'Drug Prevention Campaign'
The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 27th that it conducted a drug prevention campaign to commemorate the 37th International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
The campaign held the previous day at Gwangju Electronics Technical High School was organized to raise awareness about drugs among students and local residents.
There is concern about the recent spread of drug crimes targeting even adolescents. Accordingly, this campaign was conducted to emphasize the importance of students' safety from drug crimes and drug prevention education.
Drug prevention education leaflets and promotional materials were distributed, banners for preventing drug abuse and misuse were installed, and drug crime prevention education was conducted.
Related organizations such as Gwangsan Police Station and the Gwangju-Jeonnam branch of the Korea Drug Prevention Movement Headquarters also participated to raise interest in drug prevention.

Superintendent Lee Jeong-seon stated, “The Office of Education takes the lead in giving significance to the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. It is important for families, schools, and communities to strengthen prevention education along with awareness of the dangers of drugs,” and added, “We will continue to strive to create schools safe from drug-related crimes for students and staff.”
