Geumcheon Bridge 'Pongdangpongdang Children's Water Playground' Opens July 1
Operating from July 1 to August 27, from 10 AM to 5 PM (Closed every Monday and Friday)
Additional Rest Decks Created, Old Water Play Facilities and Auxiliary Facilities Renovated
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) will open the ‘Geumcheon Pongdangpongdang Children's Water Playground’ located under the Geumcheon Bridge along the Anyangcheon Stream starting July 1.
The ‘Geumcheon Pongdangpongdang Children's Water Playground,’ a famous spot along Anyangcheon, covers an area of 3,303㎡. It features separate zones for children and toddlers, allowing not only children but also infants to use the facility safely. Around the water playground, there are shaded areas and resting spots for relaxation, and on the embankment slope, there is a rest deck that can accommodate about 100 people.
This year, to provide more waterside resting spaces for residents, an additional rest deck that can accommodate approximately 270 people was constructed under the Geumcheon Bridge.
Additionally, improvements were made to aging water play and auxiliary facilities, including ▲installation of a combined play structure in the children's pool ▲replacement of the water drop and water play tunnel ▲maintenance of the outdoor shower facilities ▲installation of 7 additional parasols at the water playground. Since these facilities are used by children, old purification devices and piping were replaced to maintain clean water quality.
Volunteers, safety personnel, and nursing staff are stationed at all times to prepare for emergencies. A ‘Care Center’ will be operated to provide treatment in case children sustain abrasions during water play, aiming to prevent safety accidents.
Visitors must comply with the following to ensure children’s safety and prevent water pollution: ▲operate 50 minutes per hour (10 minutes break) ▲wear aqua shoes (regular shoes such as sneakers are not allowed), swimsuits, and swim caps (regular hats are not allowed) ▲wash the body before entering (children under 5 are prohibited from entering the children’s zone and must enter the toddler zone).
The water playground will be closed every Monday and Friday for cleaning the purification tanks and facility maintenance.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, “This year, we have newly renovated the water playground. We will strive to manage water quality and safety so that residents can comfortably relax with their families at a water playground close to home.”
