Pukyong National University Selected as Southeast Region Lead University for 'Innovation in Entrepreneurship Education'
National Pukyong National University has been selected as the lead university for the Southeast region in the ‘Startup Education Innovation Leading University (SCOUT, Startup Co-Op University for Transition of edu)’ project.
On the 26th, Pukyong National University announced that it was selected as a consortium formed with participating universities such as Gyeongsang National University, Ulsan University, and Changwon National University in the project selection results announced by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea.
This project was established to expand the existing ‘Startup Education Hub Universities’ to nurture startup talents and reduce educational capacity gaps between regions.
By region, the lead universities selected were Chung-Ang University (Capital area), Chungnam National University (Chungcheong area), Yeungnam University/Daekyung University (Daekyung and Gangwon area), Pukyong National University/Ulsan College of Science (Southeast area), and Chonnam National University/Chosun College of Science and Technology (Honam and Jeju area), respectively.
Following this project selection, each consortium including Pukyong National University will receive project funding of 750 million KRW (400 million KRW for junior colleges) annually for five years to operate a ‘Startup Education Council’ with startup support organizations and promote customized startup education tailored to local government specialized industries.
Pukyong National University stated that the university has established itself as the leading university for startup education representing the Southeast region, and it is analyzed that it received excellent scores in the evaluation of local government collaboration and region-based startup activation programs among general university consortia in this assessment.
A representative from Pukyong National University said, “We expect this project, which is scheduled to be reorganized into the Regional Innovation-centered University Support System (RISE) in 2025, two years from now, to be successfully established in the Southeast region.”

President Jang Young-su said, “With this project selection, we expect to strengthen the connection between the region and universities in startups, create synergy with the Campus Innovation Park project selected last April, and grow into a hub for university startups in the Southeast region that genuinely connects startup education to regional startups.”
