The Human Resources Development Service of Korea, which caused an incident where the answer sheets of about 600 examinees who took the national qualification exam last April were shredded before grading, announced that it will provide financial compensation of 100,000 KRW per person to the affected examinees. It also decided to refund the fees to those who did not take the retest.
On the 26th, the Human Resources Development Service of Korea sent text messages to 613 affected examinees, including 609 who took the first written practical test of the regular Engineer and Industrial Engineer exam held at the Seoul Western Branch on April 23, and 4 additional examinees whose answer sheets were confirmed lost, informing them of the 100,000 KRW compensation per person. The organization will pay the compensation from funds raised by employees returning part of their salaries. Afterwards, they plan to contact the 613 affected individuals individually to guide them through the payment process, verify bank accounts, and complete the compensation payment by the 10th of next month.

Earlier, on April 23, an incident occurred where the answer sheets of 609 examinees who took the first written practical test of the regular Engineer and Industrial Engineer exam were mistakenly shredded in full. This fact was revealed belatedly on the 20th of last month, nearly a month after the exam was conducted. Subsequently, the organization conducted retests for the 613 affected examinees from the 1st to 4th and the 24th to 25th of this month. Among them, 566 examinees, excluding 47 who declined, took the retest at nine testing centers including Eunpyeong Middle School in Seoul and the Gwangju National Qualification Testing Center. Additionally, the organization plans to refund the 100,000 KRW compensation and the exam fees for the April 23 test to those who did not take the retest.

Meanwhile, as a result of this incident, Ahsu Bong, the director of the Human Resources Development Service, abruptly resigned on the 1st. Kim Young-jung, acting director of the organization, stated, "We will carry out our business faithfully without wavering in this unprecedented crisis and will renew ourselves with a resolute determination to restore internal and external trust." The organization also announced, "Through a special audit by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, we will thoroughly investigate the exact facts regarding the shredding and loss of answer sheets and take strict measures against any wrongdoing," and added, "To prevent recurrence of similar cases and restore public trust, we plan to swiftly form a National Qualification Operation Innovation Task Force and transition to an emergency management system."
