Minister of Justice Han Dong-hoon attended the '73rd Anniversary Ceremony of the Korean War' and caused a commotion when he lost his mobile phone, prompting detectives from the violent crimes unit to arrive and search the scene. It was later revealed that an attendee at the event found Minister Han's phone and turned it in as lost property at a nearby police station.
According to multiple media outlets and the police on the 26th, the Jungbu Police Station in Seoul received a report the previous day stating, "Minister Han lost his mobile phone." On that day, Minister Han was attending the '73rd Anniversary Ceremony of the Korean War' held at Jangchung Gymnasium in Jung-gu, Seoul, from the morning. When he noticed his phone was missing, he reported the loss to the police through his aides.

In response, the police deployed the violent crimes detective duty team to search Jangchung Gymnasium, considering the possibility of theft or other crimes. Even if it was not stolen, if a third party took the phone, they could be charged with embezzlement of lost property.
The police reviewed closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the event venue and identified Mr. A, who took Minister Han's phone. Mr. A was a representative of the Veterans Association (Hyanggun) attending the event and was found to have turned in the phone as lost property at a nearby police station immediately after finding it.
A police official stated, "After the search, there was no evidence of criminal intent, so the case was closed," adding, "We confirmed that the finder turned it in as lost property at another police station and had no intention of illegal possession, so the matter was resolved without issue."
