Journalist Involved in 'Kim Man-bae Money Deal' Dismissal Upheld in Appeal Trial
The injunction request to suspend the disciplinary action filed by a media executive who was dismissed after conducting financial transactions with Kim Man-bae, the major shareholder of Hwacheon Daeyu Asset Management, was also dismissed in the appellate court.
According to the legal community on the 26th, the Seoul High Court Civil Division 15 (Presiding Judges Yoon Kang-yeol, Jung Hyun-kyung, Song Young-bok) dismissed the appeal of former Hankook Ilbo reporter A, who filed an injunction request to suspend the effect of his disciplinary dismissal against the company, on the 19th.
It was confirmed that A borrowed 100 million won from Kim in May 2020 to prepare funds for purchasing a house, which led to his dismissal from the media company.
At the time, Hankook Ilbo stated the reason for dismissal was that "it does not appear to be a normal transaction, and it was not reported to the company even after the Daejang-dong incident surfaced."
