Zuckerberg's Martial Arts Coach: "Can't Predict Outcome of Match Against Musk"
"Results Unknown... Zuckerberg, an Excellent Student"
Zuckerberg Has Been Devoted to Practicing Jiu-Jitsu Since Last Year
Kai Wu, a mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter who has served as martial arts instructor to Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, spoke about the possibility of a showdown between Zuckerberg and Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla.
He praised Zuckerberg, who has trained under him, as a "diligent trainee," but said the outcome of the fight is completely unpredictable.
According to the US media outlet Forbes on the 25th (local time), Kai Wu is an active professional MMA fighter who has been teaching Zuckerberg various MMA techniques, including jiu-jitsu, since September last year.
In an interview with the media, he said of Zuckerberg, "He trains really hard. Honestly, he's a really good person," but added, "I can't be sure how the fight (with Musk) will go. I don't even want to speculate."
He also said, "My thoughts are the same as yours," adding, "How crazy is this?"
Earlier, Zuckerberg proved the results of his training by winning a gold medal at a jiu-jitsu competition held in Brazil last month.
He also revealed in a podcast last year that "I started taking an interest in and learning jiu-jitsu from the early days of the COVID-19 outbreak." At that time, Kai Wu praised Zuckerberg by calling him a "jiu-jitsu nerd" (a geek who immerses himself in a particular field).
Meanwhile, Musk and Zuckerberg engaged in a heated exchange on social networking services (SNS) on the 21st over their business rivalry, hinting at the possibility of a "one-on-one match."
When Meta announced it would launch an app called "Threads," a competitor to Twitter, Musk publicly challenged Zuckerberg to a fight, saying, "I'm ready to fight." Zuckerberg then responded on his Instagram, saying, "Send me your location."
Whether the fight between the two will actually take place remains uncertain. However, if realized, it is expected to generate a staggering $1 billion (about 1.3 trillion won) in revenue, attracting attention not only from the tech industry but also from the MMA and media sectors.
In this regard, Dana White, president of the UFC, expressed on the 22nd that "(the fight between Musk and Zuckerberg) would be the biggest fight in world history," and said he expects it to "break all pay-per-view records."
