Seodaemun-gu, Outdoor Advertising Safety Inspection to Prevent Accidents During the Jangma Season
Over three months of 'Preliminary Safety Inspection of Outdoor Advertisements' and 'Special Crackdown on Illegal Outdoor Advertisements'
Repair and removal of hazardous protruding signs, maintenance of banner stands and illegal banners, etc.
Seodaemun-gu (District Mayor Lee Seongheon) announced on the 26th that it has conducted a 'Preliminary Safety Inspection of Outdoor Advertisements' and a 'Special Crackdown on Illegal Outdoor Advertisements' in the area for over three months since April to prevent safety accidents caused by summer wind and flood disasters.
The district, in cooperation with the 'Seoul Outdoor Advertising Association,' conducted a public-private joint inspection of fixed advertisements such as rooftop signs, protruding signs, and banner posting facilities, checking joints, bolt tightening, and corrosion conditions.
Additionally, the district office's on-site advertisement inspection team carried out a special crackdown on 'mobile advertisements' such as illegal banners and air lights (balloon advertisements) that threaten pedestrian safety.
As a result, among 535 fixed advertisements inspected, correction orders were issued for 10 hazardous protruding signs requiring follow-up action; 5 of these were repaired by the respective advertisement managers, and the remaining 5 old and ownerless protruding signs were removed. Tilted banner stands were also maintained.
For mobile advertisements, a total of 20,385 items were maintained, including 1,361 illegal banners, 181 banners and signboards, and 18,843 posters and flyers. The district plans to continue regular on-site patrols to create a safe and pleasant urban landscape.
