KOSPI and KOSDAQ Turn Positive... Hyundai Motor and Kia Show Strength
The KOSPI and KOSDAQ started lower but turned to an upward trend during the morning session. The KOSPI is being driven by institutional investors.
As of 10:28 AM on the 26th, the KOSPI is trading at 2,582.16, up 0.47% (12.06 points) from the previous trading day. The KOSPI opened at 2,568.65, down 0.06% (1.45 points) earlier today.
Institutions alone are net buyers of 42.9 billion KRW, lifting the index. Individuals and foreigners are net sellers of 16.7 billion KRW and 19.2 billion KRW, respectively. In the futures market, individuals and institutions are selling 218.6 billion KRW and 288.1 billion KRW, respectively. Meanwhile, foreigners are the sole net buyers with 520.7 billion KRW.
The top 10 stocks by market capitalization are mostly on the rise. POSCO Holdings +3.19%, Kia +2.16%, Hyundai Motor +1.05%, Samsung Electronics +0.94%. SK Hynix -1.94% and LG Chem -0.56% are declining, while LG Energy Solution and Samsung SDI are unchanged.
As of 10:35 AM, the KOSDAQ is trading at 878.04, up 0.37% (3.20 points) from the previous day. The KOSDAQ also started lower at 874.31, down 0.06% (0.53 points), but reversed to an upward trend.
Foreigners and institutions are net buyers of 600 million KRW and 30.4 billion KRW, respectively. The supply and demand situation is better than the KOSPI, but foreign buying momentum appears to be weakening. Meanwhile, individuals are the sole net sellers with 21.6 billion KRW.
