June 30th, 7 PM at Busan Cinema Center Outdoor Theater, Opening Event 'Opening Night' Held
Opening Performance - Program Introduction - Opening Film Screening, Free Admission for First 2000 General Audience Members
The festival that adds the flavor of food to movies, ‘2023 Busan Food Film Festa (Busan Food Film Festa, hereinafter BFFF),’ will be held for three days starting with the ‘Opening Night’ on June 30.
The ‘Opening Night’ marking the start of 2023 BFFF will begin at 7 p.m. on June 30 with an opening performance at the outdoor theater of the Busan Cinema Center, followed by ▲ introduction of this year’s main theme and program ▲ theme performance of ‘Serenade Musical’ ▲ screening of the opening film ‘Wagjak Until the Roof of the Mouth,’ and admission is free for the first 2,000 attendees.
Under the theme ‘Bread, Baking Happiness,’ this year’s 2023 BFFF presents nine films across three categories (Boulangerie, Patisserie, Movie Dining) featuring various genres related to food.
Additionally, before the film screenings, attendees can listen to stories about the food in the movies through the film guide ‘Cook Talk’ with BFFF programmers. There is also a gourmet class ‘Food Terrace’ where participants can taste and learn about the food from the films firsthand. The festival’s most popular program, ‘Night Cruise Food Terrace,’ will again be held in collaboration with the Busan Tourism Organization under the new name ‘Star Sea Busan Night Food Terrace’ to engage with citizens.
Other events include the ‘Juju (主酒) Club,’ a space to share untold stories of the festival, and a ‘Food Zone’ featuring trendy food trucks and unique restaurant pop-up stores. In line with this year’s theme, master baker Lee Heung-yong, a representative pastry master of Busan, will be invited to hold an entertaining food content talk.
At the outdoor plaza, various side events such as theme zones, food zones, food trucks, flea markets, and potluck tables will provide enjoyable memories for the audience.
At the ‘Potluck Table,’ a community program of Busan Food Film Festa, attendees can enjoy food purchased on-site or brought from home along with various performances, events, and films.
For the first time this year, there will be booths promoting seafood safety and specialized products to showcase Busan’s excellent seafood. In the ‘Theme Zone,’ visitors can find a variety of breads from famous boulangeries and patisseries nationwide, including Busan, matching the theme of ‘bread.’
Kim Ki-hwan, Director of the City’s Culture and Sports Bureau, said, “We ask for the citizens’ great interest and participation in Busan Food Film Festa, a unique event in Busan that adds the flavor of food to movies.”
