Gimpo Jangneung History and Culture Center Transformed into an Interactive Exhibition Facility
Reopening on the 27th after Renovation Completion
Gimpo Jangneung History and Culture Center is being transformed into an interactive exhibition facility. According to the Cultural Heritage Administration's Royal Tombs and Relics Headquarters on the 26th, it will reopen on the 27th after renovations.
The owners of Gimpo Jangneung are the posthumously honored Wonjong (1580?1619) and Queen Inheon Gu (1578?1626), the parents of King Injo of Joseon. Injo, who ascended the throne through a coup, posthumously honored his parents to assert legitimacy and elevated their tomb, 'Heunggyeongwon,' to 'Jangneung.' This is why Gimpo Jangneung has the characteristics of both a royal family tomb called 'won' and a royal tomb.

The Royal Tombs and Relics Headquarters enhanced the exhibition content to effectively convey the related history and value. Based on historical materials such as 'Jangneungji (1777),' it explains how officials and soldiers managed the royal tombs, and through unmanned kiosks, it provides information on the value of Joseon royal tombs and details of forty royal tombs. Interactive content such as videos capturing the four seasons of the royal tomb and models of Jangneung's Museokin (武石人) have also been extensively prepared.
