11 Injured in Cathay Pacific Passenger Plane Accident During Takeoff in Hong Kong
Foreign Media "Suspected Tire Blowout"
On the 24th, at Hong Kong International Airport, a Cathay Pacific passenger plane experienced an incident suspected to be a tire burst during takeoff, resulting in 11 injuries.
According to foreign media including the Hong Kong South China Morning Post (SCMP), at around 12:20 a.m. local time, Cathay Pacific flight CX880 bound for Los Angeles, USA, detected an abnormal signal while attempting to take off from Hong Kong Airport, then aborted the takeoff and moved to a holding area. The aircraft was carrying 293 passengers and 17 crew members.
Foreign media reported that during the evacuation via emergency slides, a total of 11 people were injured, including 10 women and 1 man. Hong Kong airport authorities only announced that there was an "abnormal signal" during the takeoff process, while China's state-run Xinhua News Agency, citing police sources, reported that one of the aircraft's tires appeared to have burst.
