She also showed great interest in the video vividly depicting the miserable scenes of Seoul citizens fleeing in the cold during the Korean War, stating, “Freedom is never given for free,” and “This was an opportunity to reaffirm the importance of flawless national security.”
The floor leaders expressed deep respect for the young heroes from 16 countries around the world who sacrificed themselves to protect “a small, newly established country they had never visited before” in defense of the value of freedom during the Korean War.
On this day, the delegation requested Kim Yong-seok, Director of the Seoul Museum of History, to actively promote the exhibition, saying, “We hope that more Seoul citizens can empathize with the horrors of war, Korea’s miraculous achievements from the ashes, and the historical significance and contributions of the ROK-US Alliance.”
The special exhibition ‘The Korean War and the ROK-US Alliance,’ open until September 24 at the Seoul Museum of History, features vivid photos and videos depicting the outbreak of the Korean War, the signing of the 1953 armistice agreement, the formation of the ROK-US Mutual Defense Treaty, and the devastation of the Korean War.
