Gwangju Nam-gu Closes Cultural Arts Center for Theater Reinforcement Construction
"The Nam-gu Cultural and Arts Center performance hall will be closed for two months from July to August due to functional reinforcement construction. We will provide a pleasant cultural and artistic performance environment with a newly renovated appearance."
Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is undertaking major renovations of the Nam-gu Cultural and Arts Center performance hall, which requires functional reinforcement due to aging facilities.
According to Nam-gu on the 23rd, the functional reinforcement construction of the Nam-gu Cultural and Arts Center performance hall will take place for two months from July to the end of August.
The performance hall will be closed during the construction period.
The project budget for this functional reinforcement construction is 623 million KRW, which will be used to replace the performance hall seats, as well as the heating and cooling systems and audio equipment.
Nam-gu’s policy is to completely renovate the old and worn performance hall facilities to fully resolve the inconveniences experienced by residents using the performance hall and to provide a comfortable performance environment.
First, all 402 audience seats inside the performance hall will be replaced. This is to eliminate creaking noises during performances caused by floor gaps or broken seats.
Additionally, the performance hall floor, which has depressions raising safety concerns, will be entirely repaired.
Along with this, Nam-gu has decided to replace the current central heating and cooling system in the performance hall with an individual heating and cooling system.
This is because the aging of the existing facilities has led to decreased functionality and continuous complaints from users.
The audio equipment inside the performance hall has already been replaced.
Before the equipment replacement, detailed functions of the audio channels did not operate properly, causing disruptions in renting the performance hall and the inconvenience of having to rent audio equipment separately.
Currently, the sound quality in the Cultural and Arts Center performance hall is at its best due to the introduction of new equipment.
