SK Hynix Introduces Next-Generation Memory at US IT Exhibition 'HPED'
Exhibition of Enterprise SSDs and DDR5 RDIMMs
SK Hynix announced on the 23rd that it participated in the IT exhibition 'HPE Discover (HPED) 2023,' held over three days from the 20th (local time) in Las Vegas, USA, showcasing next-generation memory technologies and products.
HPED is an annual event hosted by the American information and communication technology (ICT) company HPE. It is a venue where HPE customers and partners understand data center operation trends and share memory solutions. SK Hynix stated, "We attracted attention by presenting industry-leading data center memory solutions," and added, "Through this, we solidified our partnership with HPE."
Under the slogan "Enhancing customer competitiveness with memory performance," SK Hynix introduced the PS1010 E3.S, a high-performance PCIe (high-speed input/output interface) 5th generation enterprise solid-state drive (SSD), and the DDR5 RDIMM server DRAM module applying the 10-nanometer 5th generation (1b) process. Additionally, the two products were installed in HPE's latest Gen 11 servers to demonstrate performance, conducting joint promotions.

They also presented a broad product portfolio, providing engaging content. Advanced memory solutions such as High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) 3, which has become a hot topic due to the generative artificial intelligence (AI) boom, CXL (next-generation interconnect protocol) memory that facilitates memory bandwidth and capacity expansion, and next-generation intelligent semiconductor processing in memory (PIM) were showcased. The subsidiary Solidigm unveiled PCIe 4th generation NVMe (communication protocol for storage devices)-based SSDs.
At this event, SK Hynix held presentation sessions introducing the role and vision of memory. Im Yeo-cheol, Vice President (Fellow) of SK Hynix Solution Development, introduced 'PIM semiconductors that enhance GPT efficiency.' Tae-jin Choi and Santosh Kumar, TLs of SK Hynix in the Americas, presented 'Next-generation server SSD storage technology trends.' Yu-seong Lee, TL of SK Hynix, introduced 'DDR5 as the next-generation DRAM standard in the big data era.'
