Prime Minister Han Duck-soo met with Ted Sarandos, Co-CEO of Netflix, who is visiting Korea, at the Government Seoul Office on the 22nd.
In his greeting, Prime Minister Han said, "Netflix is at the center of the Korea-US alliance, which celebrates its 70th anniversary this year, transforming into a cultural alliance." He also referred to the $2.5 billion K-content investment plan announced by Netflix during President Yoon Seok-yeol's visit to the United States last April, urging, "As a market leader, I hope Netflix will continue to actively cooperate with Korea's media and content industry."

CEO Sarandos responded by recalling President Yoon, who is visiting France and Vietnam, delivering a presentation (PT) for the 2030 Expo Busan bid at the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) General Assembly in Paris on the 20th (local time). He said, "I was very impressed by the vision and insights into the content industry that President Yoon demonstrated during the meetings and congressional speech in Washington DC," adding, "Those qualities also shone through in the 2030 Busan Expo bid presentation in Paris."
CEO Sarandos also evaluated, "Korea's vibrant creative ecosystem is a great example of how stories convey culture and language," and noted, "60% of Netflix subscribers have already watched at least one Korean content, and the viewership of Korean content has increased sixfold over the past four years, showing great popularity."

Prime Minister Han stated, "The Korean government is striving to foster the cultural industry as a representative export strategic industry by investing over 1 trillion won annually and expanding exchanges with future generations, while also strengthening cooperative relations with the United States," and in response, CEO Sarandos conveyed plans to consider cooperation measures so that the industries of both countries can grow together, as exemplified by the recent workshop he held to transfer production technology to Korean industry professionals and students.
