People Power Party Holds Budget Policy Meeting with Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon
Park Dae-chul: "I Will Ensure Timely Budget Allocation"
On the 22nd, the People Power Party discussed current issues such as transportation and housing in Seoul with Mayor Oh Se-hoon and promised future support.
Yoon Jae-ok, the floor leader of the People Power Party, attended the budget policy meeting held at Seoul City Hall in the afternoon and stated, “The People Power Party will do its best to ensure that policy and budget support to prepare for Seoul’s future and address current issues are not delayed. We will have in-depth discussions at today’s meeting and prepare effective measures.”
Attending the budget policy meeting were Floor Leader Yoon, Policy Committee Chairman Park Dae-chul, ruling party member of the National Assembly Budget and Accounts Special Committee Song Eon-seok, Mayor Oh, and other Seoul city officials.
Floor Leader Yoon said, “Seoul City has announced Design 2.0. I understand that Mayor Oh is upgrading Design Seoul 1.0, which was announced in 2006, and is pushing it again after 17 years,” adding, “The reason this policy project, which had been dormant for 17 years, could be revived is because the citizens of Seoul trusted and supported the People Power Party and Mayor Oh in the last election. To repay the support of Seoul citizens, the People Power Party will work together to devise support measures for Seoul’s future.”
He continued, “Seoul, the capital of the Republic of Korea, is home to the largest number of citizens and has diverse policy demands in areas such as economy, culture, welfare, and safety,” explaining, “Transportation measures centered on Seoul, improvement of aging public transportation facilities, preparation for summer heavy rain, and measures related to rental housing are urgent issues directly related to the quality of life of Seoul citizens and the people of Korea.”
Policy Committee Chairman Park also said at the budget policy meeting, “This budget is not for giving handouts to civic groups but is a budget for our Seoul citizens. It is an era where civic groups are newly finding their role to serve citizens and local governments, rather than colluding with local powers,” and added, “The People Power Party Policy Committee will do its best to help Seoul leap forward as a globally competitive and attractive city.”
He further stated, “The party, government, central and local governments must act as one team to achieve the expected effects,” and said, “We will carefully manage the budget that improves the quality of life of Seoul citizens and brightens the future of the capital Seoul so that it can be injected on time and act as a primer.”
