SK Telecom presented Korea's UAM technology and the future mobility vision that the Busan Expo will bring through a virtual UAM experience at the '2030 Busan World Expo Official Reception.' The event was held at the sports center in Issy-les-Moulineaux near Paris. UAM refers to Urban Air Mobility, an electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) based aerial mobility service powered by electricity.

View original imageOn the 21st (local time), SKT announced, "We operated a space where visitors could experience the present and future of the Busan Expo site through a life-sized UAM simulator using VR, and explained the features of UAM with a UAM model attached to a robotic arm against a three-sided display background." The event was attended by over 400 people, including representatives from the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) and diplomats stationed in Paris. Various programs introducing Korean culture, food, and music were held. Representatives from various countries who visited the site showed interest in UAM technology and its future development directions while enjoying the experience.

SKT's immersive exhibition content was previously showcased at this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2023) and Mobile World Congress (MWC 23). By boarding a life-sized UAM model and wearing VR equipment, visitors can experience flying over Busan city in 2030. Park Kyuhyun, head of SKT Digital Communication, said, “With the help of AI, we highlighted the advanced ICT infrastructure, a strength of the Busan World Expo, through an immersive experience of freely flying in the Busan sky in 2030.”
