They also plan to work together to ensure a stable supply of raw materials for eco-friendly packaging and to expand the commercialization of products using eco-friendly raw materials.
Chemical recycling is characterized by chemically breaking down plastics into pyrolysis oil in the form of oil, which can be recovered as clean raw materials such as polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE), unlike physical recycling that simply melts plastics for reuse. It is a recycling technology that has recently gained attention due to its high recycling rate and contribution to resource circulation.
Hwang Min-jae, Head of the Comprehensive Technology Institute at Lotte Chemical, said, "We will strive for research and development and commercialization of eco-friendly plastics, including collaboration on eco-friendly packaging," adding, "We plan to expand related businesses by understanding the resource circulation trend."
