Jeong Yoo-jeong (23), who is accused of murdering a woman in her 20s whom she met through a tutoring app and disposing of the body, has been brought to trial.
The Busan District Prosecutors' Office's dedicated investigation team (led by Song Young-in, Head of Criminal Division 3) announced on the 21st that Jeong Yoo-jeong was indicted on charges of murder, corpse mutilation, corpse disposal, and theft.
Jeong Yujeong (23), who is accused of murdering a peer woman she met through a tutoring app and disposing of the body, is being transferred from Busan Dongnae Police Station to the prosecution on the morning of the 2nd.

Additionally, between 6:10 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on the same day, Jeong Yoo-jeong is accused of mutilating the victim's body with a pre-prepared Chinese-style kitchen knife, damaging the corpse, and then disposing of part of the body in a park located in Yangsan City, Gyeongnam, around 1:15 a.m. on the 27th of last month. The theft charge was applied because Jeong Yoo-jeong changed into the victim's clothes after her own clothes were stained with blood during the crime.
After receiving the case from the police on the 2nd, the prosecution formed a dedicated investigation team consisting of three prosecutors from the Violent Crimes Division and has been conducting an investigation.
The prosecution extended the detention period until this day, conducted searches of the tutoring app company where Jeong Yoo-jeong selected her target and Jeong Yoo-jeong's residence, and carried out forensic analysis on Jeong Yoo-jeong's mobile phone and laptop as part of supplementary investigations.
Furthermore, the prosecution checked Jeong Yoo-jeong's mobile phone communication records and base station locations, seized transaction and card usage records from Jeong Yoo-jeong's accounts, and even involved a psychological analyst from the Supreme Prosecutors' Office to conduct an integrated psychological analysis of Jeong Yoo-jeong. They also identified Jeong Yoo-jeong's motive through consultations with forensic experts, criminal psychologists, and psychiatrists.
Through this, the prosecution meticulously reconstructed Jeong Yoo-jeong's motive, her movements from the day she decided to commit the crime on the 20th of last month until her arrest on the 27th, the method of selecting the victim, and the preparation and execution process of the crime, revealing that it was a premeditated murder planned in advance.
Initially, from the time of her arrest until shortly after being transferred to the prosecution, Jeong Yoo-jeong claimed that the murder was accidental, resulting from a dispute after meeting the victim for tutoring.
However, the prosecution secured additional evidence such as Jeong Yoo-jeong's mobile phone search history, photo files, tutoring app registration information, and chat logs, revealing that this case was a thoroughly planned and deliberate crime.
The prosecution confirmed that Jeong Yoo-jeong attempted to contact a total of 54 tutors through the tutoring app and, while searching for a female living alone who could receive tutoring at her home, selected the victim as the target. She reassured the victim by pretending that her middle school daughter was going to receive tutoring, then visited the victim's home and murdered her.
During the prosecution's search, they also found a note written by Jeong Yoo-jeong implying murder with the phrase "I won't be satisfied unless I kill," as well as records of her searching online for terms such as "murder methods" and "corpse disposal."
After reviewing the evidence secured by the prosecution, Jeong Yoo-jeong is reported to have admitted that she selected the murder target through the tutoring app from the beginning and killed and mutilated the victim with pre-prepared kitchen knives.
Meanwhile, the prosecution analyzed Jeong Yoo-jeong's motive through integrated psychological analysis and examination of recorded phone calls between Jeong Yoo-jeong and her father, concluding that Jeong Yoo-jeong committed the crime out of anger stemming from an unhappy upbringing, family relationships, and dissatisfaction with her current situation, intending to resolve this anger through what is known as a "random killing" method.
The integrated psychological analysis showed that Jeong Yoo-jeong needed a target to express her suppressed inner anger, and her personality traits (psychopathic characteristics) that made her unhesitant to act on such thoughts influenced her to carry out the crime.
Regarding the motive, there were suspicions that Jeong Yoo-jeong committed the crime to "steal identity," but the prosecution confirmed that she selected the victim based on conditions that made killing easier, and no evidence was found to support the claim that she had the purpose of "identity theft."
In particular, the prosecution judged that Jeong Yoo-jeong changed into the victim's clothes at the time of the crime to go outside after her own clothes were stained with blood from the murder.
Additionally, based on autopsy results, CCTV footage near the crime scene, and analysis of Jeong Yoo-jeong's mobile phone, the prosecution concluded that this crime was committed solely by Jeong Yoo-jeong.
Meanwhile, it was confirmed that Jeong Yoo-jeong was exposed to multiple CCTV cameras during the corpse disposal process and showed somewhat careless behavior, such as arousing suspicion from a taxi driver while traveling by taxi.
The prosecution understood that since Jeong Yoo-jeong did not have a car or driver's license, she had no choice but to use taxis during the crime, and due to her limited social experience, she was unaware of the possibility of being exposed to CCTV cameras installed in various places.
A representative from the Busan District Prosecutors' Office stated, "This case involves a person who, to relieve her anger, approached a stranger woman through a tutoring app by pretending to be a student, brutally murdered her, mutilated and disposed of the body, causing great social shock. We will do our best to ensure that the defendant receives a severe sentence commensurate with the crime."
